Child psychology services in schools

School workshops and therapy groups

As part of our child therapy service, Dr Gail Sinitsky provides a range of in-school children’s well-being workshops and therapeutic groups designed to:  boost self-esteem, increase social connectedness, and teach key skills to strengthen children's social and emotional lives.

All our workshops and therapy groups can be tailored to best meet the needs of your school and pupils. Most can be adapted for KS1, KS2 and KS3. We can integrate our work into your school’s PSHE programme, whether through regular weekly programmes or more intensive half-day workshops. We can also design new programmes, according to the needs of your pupils.  Costs vary according to length of workshop / number of sessions.

Standing Strong

This creative and powerful workshop draws on the Narrative Therapy Tree of Life approach to enhance self-acceptance and self-esteem through the use of art and metaphor. The programme also helps children develop skills to cope with the 'storms' in their lives.  An impactful programme that strengthens children's relationship with themselves and develops their autonomy and confidence to face life's challenges.

Standing Strong Together

This dual-focus workshop extends the Standing Strong programme to tackle low self-esteem and loneliness - two key risk factors for poor mental health and risky behaviours. Using a building-block approach, the programme first focuses on enhancing self-esteem and then on developing skills for meaningful connections with others. Integral to the PSHE curriculum, this programme provide a strong foundation, helping children to stay strong, stay connected and stay safe as they grow.

The Zen Den

Bringing together mindfulness, arts and visualisation, The Zen Den offers an accepting and regulating safe space for children. Wonderful for all children, but especially for those who are bothered by worries and anxiety. The Zen Den can be delivered as a weekly intervention for targeted groups of children or for the whole-class. Alternative options are half-day workshops teaching Zen Den anxiety-management techniques, for children and teachers to put into practice throughout the year.

Girls Empower

Meeting the unique needs of young girls, this reflective group draws on key aspects of the PSHE and RSE curriculums. The group provides a safe and encouraging space for girls to explore key areas of life (such as friendships, bullying, body image, consent). A focus on creativity alongside talking, the group empowers girls to feel comfortable in their own skin and within their peer groups. We understand that different classes and peer groups tend to face different challenges so the number of sessions and topics can be tailored according to the need.

Mighty Me

Drawing on a range of therapeutic models, including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Therapies, this is a highly impactful group for children who have experienced trauma (such as, abuse, parental separation, parental ill health, bullying). Children are supported to re-discover their 'mighty identities' - building self-esteem and developing skills in coping with tricky feelings. Whilst the group does not directly focus on talking about the trauma, we provide a safe therapeutic space for conversations that may arise. A wonderful empowering group for those that need extra nurturing.

Thrive & Shine

Fun, creative and interactive workshops to support Year 6 pupils in their transition to secondary school. In a safe environment, we explore common worries, look ahead to opportunities, and develop skills in meeting challenges. The transition to secondary is often met with a variety of emotions and this workshop meets pupils where they are at and increases their confidence in being 'secondary ready'. Children will walk away with a deepened sense of autonomy as well as a tool-kit for managing different aspects of the transition.
